Marine Biodiversity Agreement At International Waters


It starts the negotiation for the redaction of an joint agreement addressed to biodiversity protection in oceanic waters out national jurisdiction. 

The first session, started over on September 4th at the United Nations palace in New York, after a decade with debates rounding oceans protection placed in the “Alta Mar” zone. The discussions at the United nations rounded up the right to the sea (UNCLOS) integrated by 167 countries included Europe.

The situated areas beyond 200 miles out coast from a country are globally shared, thus there are not applicable ownership in biodiversity protection, preservation and services provision in it.
The meetings started with the presentation of informs about the 4 crucial elements identified previously in a large integrated discussion. They were: Capabilities construction and technological transference, tools based on working areas, environmental impact assessment, and marine genetic resources.
